Last summer, Putnam announced that Joshua Brooks, its chief investment officer for large-cap stocks, would join longtime managers Hugh Mullin and Christopher Miller in selecting stocks for Growth & Income's portfolio. Mullin and Miller, who joined the fund's management team in 1996 and 2000, respectively, had previously managed the fund in separate sleeves -- only to generate laggard returns in the process.
